Gas explosion: Bhagya’s life in distress, expects helping hands

Mangalore, Apr 16: Bhagya, victim of a dreadful explosion that occurred on April 4 due to gas leak in an apartment of Kadri Kambala road is distraught after the incident.


Bhagya (35) is the mother of Bharathi (15) and Anjaneya (14) who lost her daughter and husband Shivanand in the tragedy. Bhagya has recovered to a fair extent but Anjaneya continues to be in a serious condition. The mother and the son are being treated at district’s Wenlock Hospital.


Shivanand, from Haveri, used to work as a watchman in the apartments while Bhagya did household tasks in various flats in the area. Bharati was a ninth standard student and Anjaneya studies in the eighth standard of St Francis Xavier’s School, Bejai.


Anjaneya’s medical treatment is being carried out free of cost by the hospital authorities, but it will take a long time for him to recover from his injuries completely.


Their life is in bad condition after the incident. Bhagya is unable to work due to the burn injuries, she has no one to support and nowhere to go. Bhagya and Anjaneya now need financial support to tide over their sorrow.
