Mulky police arrests complainant for being accused in same case

Mangalore, Apr 7: In a surprising incident, Mulky police arrested a person for being accused in the theft case filed by him.

Reportedly, Mohammed Peer Sab (40), a truck driver and resident of Kankere Road in Sorab, Shimoga district lodged the complaint with Mulky police that two unidentified persons had stopped the empty truck on national highway 66 near Pavanje and robbed Rs 2.67 lakhs collected after disposing off consignment of fish in Kerala on March 30.

However the story narrated by the driver had grown suspicion in truck owner, who asked the police to concentrate their investigation on the driver since he was lying. After the thorough investigation, the police revealed that the truck driver who was the complainant, is the accused and swindler of money.

In relation to the case, the police arrested Muhammed Taufeeq (24) from Brahmavar, Udupi district, and Muhammed Nisar (22) from Janata Colony, Kana Katla near Suratkal on April 6, Sunday.

It is learnt that, truck driver Peer Sab, who was back with the truck to Malpe after the sale proceeds of the fish from Thalassery and Kannur in Kerala, asked his friend Taufeeq to help him in stealing the diesel in the truck to make some money. Taufeeq, who was working out a plan with his friend, Nisar had intercepted the truck near Kulai, drive the truck to a isolated place at Borugudde near Tokur, and remove the diesel from the truck’s tank.

When the trios were engaged in stealing diesel from the truck, two unidentified youth came on a motor bike, assaulted them and fled with money, purse, ATM card and cell phone. But Peer who was scared to reveal the truth only gave some information.

Apart from it, the police said that the two unidentified youths who assaulted them were actually accomplices of Taufeeq and Nisar.

The search for Niaz from Krishnapura and Sanu from Janata Colony, who had looted cash from the driver’s possession, is on.
The police have recovered Rs 2.17 lakhs cash, a motor bike, ATM card, purse, diesel pipe, and cans. The accused have been produced before the judge of the local court at his residence on Sunday and have been remanded in 15 days judicial custody.
