Karkala, April 2: Two persons were killed and many injured in a severe road accident between a Govt. bus and a police vehicle. Police jeep driver and DCP’s wife have been identified as the deceased. The incident occurred on Udupi-Karkala State highway, Neerejeddu today noon.
The police jeep was heading towards Udupi and the bus was on its trip to Chikkamagaluru, at Neerejeddu the vehicles bumped into each other. Jeep driver Nataraj died on the spot and Gayathri, wife of DCP Laburam, died when she was taken to Manipal hospital. Many other injured have been admitted to Manipal hospital.
DCP Laburam’s family was returning back from their Dharmasthala trip. The police vehicle is severely hit and completely damaged. It is being noticed that a Police personnel cannot use the Govt. vehicle for his personal use.
