Mangalore, Mar 22: The VHP has warned to call for Taluk bundh on March 25, if the police department fails to arrest the murderers of auto rickshaw driver Rajesh at Polali on March 21, Friday.
Reportedly, deceased Rajesh was hailing from Benjanapadavu and was alone at the auto rickshaw stand, when three unidentified miscreants who arrived at Pulsar bike and attacked him with sharp weapons and fled from the spot when Rajesh collapsed.
When a woman passerby noticed Rajesh bleeding informed locals and helped to take him to a private hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
It is learnt that Rajesh who was an active member of a Hindu organization, was one of the main accused in the murder of auto rickshaw driver Iqbal and this attack on him was a revenge of the previous incident took place in February 2008. But eight months ago all the accused including Rajesh had been absolved of murder charges.
After the attack, the police have maintained a strict vigil in the area have formed two teams from DCIB and Bantwal Crime Branch to arrest the murderers. SP Dr Sharanappa is camping in Bantwal to ensure peace.
The auto rickshaw drivers union has also staged a black flag protest against the murder.
