Mangalore, April 20: It has been reported that number of election model code of conduct violation cases were more in Congress as compared to any other political parties.
Of the total 78 cases registered in the district election control room, Congress tops the list with as many as 20 cases (29 per cent).However among the twenty cases, the Returning officers and sector magistrates submitted reports revealing that violations under model code of conduct had taken place in eight cases.
The most of the cases were related to placing illegal hoardings and flex banners and helping a homeless woman by building a temporary home on government land in Sulia. The Tahsildar now swung into action after serving two notices and removed temporary home.
The cases of violations in BJP recorded were 6 followed by JDS-4, KJP-3, SDPI-2 and Republic party of India-1.
Bantwal recorded the highest number of discrepancies with 18 cases of violations followed by Moodbidri with 16 cases.
The Congress also topped the list of applications submitted for conducting meetings and rallies throughout the district.
The single window system set up to expedite permission for such political meetings had received 13 applications from congress and seven from BJP.
