Political leaders are banned to erect religious banners

Mangalore, Mar 14: Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate A.B.Ibrahim said that political leaders erecting the banners and flex boards of religious programmes extending their best wishes are banned as per the model election code of conduct.

He also said that the political candidates using their names, photographs as well as party symbols, in religious banners is totally banned and they are not allowed to use political activities in religious organizations. The decision is made as precautionary measures with regards to upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2014.

The concerned person violating the rule by of political meetings in religious institutions, raising funds, will be fined legally with Rs 10,000 as penalty and will be booked under criminal charges and liable to five years of imprisonment.
