Mangalore: “Education will provide new dimension to life of people which will reform their standard of living in the society” opined Sri U.T. Khader, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare. He was delivering the convocation address on the ‘Graduation Ceremony & Annual Day’ of Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology students of City Group of Institutions held on 09.03.2014 at City Enclave Auditorium.
Graduation day is a memorable event in student’s life. It is time for jubilation and celebration. But behind every student’s achievement a lot of hard work and sacrifice of teachers and parents are involved which they are indebted to them in future which is not repayable, he reminded. The graduates should serve the alma mater as future ambassadors, he added. Later he presented the certificates to the graduates and congratulated them.
President of City Hospital Charitable Trust Dr. K. Bhasker Shetty in his presidential address expressed his concern over the illegal and unauthorised nursing colleges which are founded and operating across the state and failing to provide any basic infrastructure and amenities attracting the students with low tuition fees and other offers and the prospective students are migrating to the neighbouring state colleges. He drew the attention of the minister to initiate appropriate and stringent legal action to be initiated to prevent this menace in future. He also wished the graduates every success in their future endeavours.
MCC Corporator Mrs. Akhila Alva was the guest of honour on this occasion and presented prizes to the academic and sports achievers. Principal of Nursing College Prof. Renilda Shanthi Lobo administered the oath reciting ceremony to the 215 graduates. Few graduates shared their experience and memorable moments during their academic career.
Prof. Bharath, Principal of Physiotherapy College, Prof. Manivannan, Principal of Nursing College and Prof. Usha Shetty, Principal of Medical Laboratory Technology College and Mr. Fayaz Ul Haq, Principal of Medical Imaging Technology College presented their annual reports. Earlier, Trustee Dr. Rohan Shetty welcomed, Dr. Roshan Shetty delivered the introductory address. Ms. Ranjana proposed a vote of thanks. Ms. Claudia Johnny compeered. Following the function students presented a very colourful cultural programme which enhanced the glamour and added flavour to the graduation ceremony.
