Gulf NRI Forum of Kuwait urges civil aviation minister to resume Air India Mangalore -Kuwait flights

Mangalore, Feb 27: Gulf NRI Forum of Kuwait president Pascal Pinto It is surprise to know that Air India Express flights between Mangalore and Kuwait has been withdrawn suddenly last week and he also urged the union minister for civil aviation to resume this flight operation.

Speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands on Feb 27, Thursday, he said that the sudden decision of Air India Express to withdraw its flight operating on Mangalore-Kuwait route; have put many people into difficulties. Lack of direct flight to Mangalore from the Gulf will affect the growth of tourism in the coastal region, he added.

Tulu Koota Kuwait also submitted a memorandum stating that Air India Express which used to operate thrice a week put around one lakh people from coastal Karnataka working in Kuwait into problem and have to spend more to reach Kuwait.

The passengers travelling to Kuwait along with medicines have to be cautious and must carry the prescriptions of doctors, since most of the medicines easily available here are banned in Kuwait. Most of the passengers suffer avoidable ordeal once they reach Kuwait for possessing contraband medicines, he informed.

He also warned the youths about some agents who dupe them with fake visas and the educated youths lured by the high paying jobs there, spend their lives inside Kuwait jails.

Louis lobo, president of Konkan Overseas Returness Walfare Association (KORWA), Tejomaya, former chairman of Mangalore Urban Development Authority and John Tauro were present.
