Woman found dead in kitchen, alleged murder

Mangalore, Feb 26: A married woman was found dead in the kitchen of her parent’s house located in Kallakatta of Talipady village near Mulky on February 25, Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Mallika Anchan (23) who lived with her parents Dejappa Poojary and Janaki Anchan in Kallakatta with her four-month-old son after her delivery.

It is learnt that body was lying face up and the neck had the marks of a rope having been tightened around it.

Mallika’s husband Sudhakar Poojary, son of Vishwanath Poojary hailing from Mudody House in Aikala Kambala, is working in a foreign     country. Sudhakar had recently visited her after her delivery.

The incident occurred when Mallika’s parents had visited Kinnigoli panchayat office for registering the name of Mallika’s son, Shashwat, in the birth register. Mallika’s grandmother, who lives in the adjacent house visited house after sometime, saw her granddaughter’s lying dead, raised an alarm. She was immediately rushed to a hospital at KInnigoli with the help of some neighbours, but doctor declared that she was brought dead.

Although, the case of suicide has been filed at the police station, the marks around Mallika’s neck and missing rope from the spot, leads suspicion of being murdered.

According to her family members, Mallika was happy and had no reasons to develop any frustration towards life. They also said that, Mallika had never expressed about problems she had faced at her in-laws house.

The body of Mallika has been kept at a mortuary in the city.  Post mortem has been planned for Wednesday at Wenlock Hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of police (crime) Vishnuvardhan and Panambur assistant commissioner of police Ravi Kumar visited the spot and guided the investigating officials to get the post mortem conducted in the presence of the tahsildar.
