Bantwal, Feb 20: A gang of unidentified men allegedly assaulted a college student of Moodbidri at Bhandaribettu on February 18, Tuesday night.
The victim is identified as Mohammed Basha alias Basith (19), son of Mohammed and a resident of Mularapatna village in Bantwal.
It is learnt that, three people arrived to the spot in an omni and threw chili powder into Basith’s eyes and assaulted him and left him at BC Road railway station in an unconscious state.
The miscreants have robbed mobile phone and Rs 1,000 from the victim.
According to the sources, the incident took place when Basith was on his way from BC Road to Farangipet to pick his friend Rizwan.
Basith was later admitted to a private hospital at Thumbay.
Bantwal police have registered a case.
