Udupi; Feb 18: Inaugurating the district level children’s festival held under the auspices of Karnataka Bala Vikasa Academy Dharvad, women and children’s welfare department, public education department Udupi and Vidya Niketana groups of institutions on Feb 15, Saturday in Vidya Niketana school premises, K.Jayaprakash Hegde, MP opined that children’s festival will become a platform for the children to bring out their dynamic activities. Through this, it will be helpful to continue ancient arts and hidden messages of sports.
Upendra Naika, district panchayat president, who presided over the function, said in his address that rural games and cultural arts are being getting disappearing due to enormous pressure on the children. These type of programmes will help to remember those vanishing arts and games, he said.
More than 150 children from different schools have displayed their different activities.
Taluk Panchayat president Gowri Poojarthi,district panchayat member Katpady Shankara Poojary,K.P.Acharya,president of Vidyaniketan group of institutions,R.Sheshappa district Nirupanaadhikari,Rajendra Bekal,assistant director of women and children’s department,Sadananda Nayak, Infant development planning officer,Ganapati Bhat,district education officer Ashok Kamath were present on the stage.
