CID-Sleuths Busted Human Trafficking, Five Minors girls Rescued

Mangalore, April 17: CID sleuths in co-ordination with ‘Odanadi’ a Mysore-based social pressure organization busted an organized racket involving human trafficking at Honnakatte, near Kulai.

Tara, aged 40, native of Hassan, a, King pin has been arrested from her present residential home at Honnakkatte near Kulai.

Sources said Tara, former bar girl in Hassan, arrived in Mangalore with two minor girls. The girls were lured from Mandya and H D Kote on the pretext of providing good education to them in Mangalore. One of the girls was forced to work as domestic help in a Principal’s house and the other girl was allegedly forced into prostitution.

The news of organized racket came to light when ‘Odanadi” found a minor girl loitering in a street in Bangalore. On enquiry, she revealed that she had escaped from Tara, who was forcing her into prostitution.

Based on the information Odanadi and CID sleuths raided the house of Tara at Honnakatte and rescued five minor girls.

The minors have revealed that they had entertained doctors and even police officers attached to Suratkal police station.

Minor girls who have been arrested were handed over to CWC.

According to Asha Nayak-Chairperson of CWC rescued girls will have to undergo medical check-up to ascertain their correct age. Also said that CWC will issue a notice to the principal of a prestigious institution in Beeri, who employed one of the minor girls for domestic work.
