Thieves burgle Shree Durgaparameshwari Temple at Kumpala, decamp with valuables

Mangalore, Feb 13:  The Thieves have decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 3 lakhs and cash from Shree Durgaparameshwari Temple at Kumpala near Ullal on February 12, Wednesday night.

The theft came to light on Thursday morning, when the priest arrived at the shrine to perform puja.

The thieves have stolen silver mask of the Lord, silver armour, prabhavali of Durgadevi idol and  karimani weighing two and a half sovereigns. The amount of Rs 25,000 kept for Shivaratri celebrations and the cash from the kanike box have been also stolen.

It is learnt that, the thieves have climbed the wall, removed the temple roofing of the dining hall of the temple which is under construction to enter.

Dog squad and finger print experts have been called for investigation.

Ullal police have registered the case and investigation is on.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Ganesh Karnik and former minister Krishna Palemar visited the temple.
