Mangalore, Feb 11: After the struggling for four decades, Akku and Leela have finally secured justice for their wages and will be conferred with Pannabha Puraskar of Ranga Bharathi in the ceremony to be held at Rotary Bhavan, Manipal on February 12 evening.
During the event, noted consumer activist Dr Ravindranath Shanbagh who fought for the justice of Akku Leela will also narrate the story and problems faced by two elderly women who had worked for several years at a government educational institution in Udupi for the salary of Rs 15.
Alva’s Foundation president Dr Mohan Alva, Manipal Rotary Club President of Girija Rao and Kannada Sahitya Parishat former President Harikrishna Punaroor will participate in the function.
During the occasion, a short film depicting Akku and Leela’s fight for justice will also be screened.
