Mangalore, Feb 7: The members of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest near Clock Tower on February 6, Thursday demanding to hike the salary of part-time lecturers of Pre-University and Degree colleges in the state.

Addressing the protestors, student leader Shyam Bhat, said that the state government is not giving the qualitative education for the students of Pre-University and Degree colleges by not appointing full-time lecturers. Instead they appoint part-time lecturers without paying them adequate salary. Hence they have to take class in two to three colleges per day reducing the quality of education.

He also urged the government appoint full-time lecturers for vacant post in colleges immediately and also provide Rs 25,000 package to the part-time lecturers for every month.
