Mangalore, Feb 6: In a bid to escape from the Custom officials at the Mangalore International Airport after attempting to smuggle gold, a man from Kanhangad in Kasargod had swallowed a total of 25 gold capsules each weighing 350 grams was succeeded until he landed the airport from Dubai flight, but his health did not support him.
The accused identified as Shashidharan hailing from Kanhangad in Kasargod had swallowed 25 gold capsules, instead of swallowing the body limit of two to three capsules and had to undergo a surgery due to the abdominal problems faced by him.
It is learnt that Shashidharan had faced the health problem as soon as he reached home and got admitted to the hospital. He was asked to undergo surgery since Doctor failed to eject capsules from his intestine. Getting information of the case, the police and the customs officials visited the hospital and directed for suo moto investigation in this regard.
