Karkala: More power to Gram Panchayat through decentralization of power-legislator Sunil Kumar

Karkala; Feb 04: After the inauguration of Varanga village Panchayat’s New Rajeev Gandhi Bharat Nirmana Sevakendra, V.Sunil Kumar, legislator and main opposition leader in the assembly said in his presidential speech that in recent years in order to make panchayats more powerful, government is granting more grants in bigger scale and with this more power has been entrusted to panchayats. It is the stupendous responsibility of the Panchayats to utilize the government grant-in-aid efficiently for the development works, he said.

He further said that the construction work of the approved primary health centre in Muniyal will be completed in the next year. Besides construction work of the approved P.U.College for Mauniyal will be started soon. The tendering process for Rs 3 crore project of Bacchappu Kabbinaale tar application work will be started shortly, he said.

Manujnatha Poojary, district panchayat member, after inaugurating the programme said in his speech that Village panchayats have become more stronger due panchayatraj’s ‘Thristhara’arrangement and along with the government’s grant-in-aid, co-operation of likeminded donor’s is also laudable, he said

Chief guests like Rashmi Shetty, taluk panchayat president, Nagesh, joint director of Industrial department, Praveen Salian, taluk panchayat standing committee president, taluk panchayat members like Sujit Kumar Shetty, Pramila Harish, taluk panchayat chief executive Chennappa Moily, Varanga village panchayat vice president Rajesh Madivala and entrepreneur Dinesh Pai were present.
