Udupi; Feb 01: After inaugurating the 21st state level nursing giant convention and scientific symposium, started on Jan 31, Friday, and will run for three days, held under the auspices of Karnataka State government nurse’s Sangha in Udupi Ajjarakadu town hall, U.T.Khader, minister for health and family welfare said in his address that the process of making the services of 892 nurses permanent, who are currently working on contract basis has already begun.
He further said that out of 892 nurses, 146 nurses are working under union government aided (IPP) and remaining 746 nurses are working under state government aided. He has already launched the programme, to make their service permanent and solution for the problem of 3900 nurses coming under NRHM would be found shortly, he said.
Continuing his address, he said that 75% of the people in the state are depending on Government hospitals for their health care services. Therefore nurses will have a bigger role to play in serving the patients. So by serving honestly and with dedication, humanly, needs to enhance the honour, respect of the hospital, he said.
While speaking about the demands of the state nurse’s Sangha, minister said that the matter about the uniforms, increase in dearness allowances, will be reviewed. Discussion will be held with medical education department to increase the stipend to Rs 5000 for the students, who are receiving training in nursing schools, he said.
Vinaya Kumar Sorake, minister for urban development and district in charge, who was present in the programme, has launched the Sangha’s website.Pramodh Madhwaraj,who presided over the programme has released ‘Belaku’a commemorative magazine.
M.Madanagopal, general secretary, Health and family welfare department,V.B.Patil,commissioner of health and family welfare,C.N.Sumitra, assistant director of medical education and A.Puttaswamy,secretary of Karnataka state Government employees association were present.
Kamala.S.Hoogar, state president of State government Nurse’s Sangha has read the contents of the memorandum of the Sangha.
