Moideen Bava is the Congress Candidate for Mangalore North Constituency

Mangalore: Congress has released its second list of 38 candidates for the May five assembly polls on April 14 at New Delhi. District Congress Minorities Cell Chief BA Moideen Bava’s name has been finalized for the much spoken Mangalore North Constituency where Vijay Kumar Shetty was one of the strong contenders for the ticket along with Kripa Alva.

Soon as Bava’s name was finalized, disgruntled Vijay Kumar Shetty’s supporters have announced a protest against Bava’s Nomination. Protest is likely to take place at Kulai Chitrapura.

It may be mentioned here that Moidin Bava had lost to BJP’s Krishna Palemar in 2008 elections. He will be facing Palemar once again this time in the same constituency.

Party is yet to clear names for 8 constituencies which includes much talked about Puttur Constituency from Dakshina Kannada District and Kaup constituency in Udupi District. Other pending constituencies are Bhadravathi, Chikkaballapur, Davanagere North, Belagavi South, Malur,  Rajarajeshwari Nagara and Hebbala.

Shamanuru Shivashankarappa (Davanagere South), Priyanka Kharge (Chittapura), Ajay Singh (Jevargi), Anil Laad (Bellary Urban), Santosh Laad (Kalaghatagi) among prominent Congressmen succeeded in bagging MLA ticket.

From KGF, Union Minister KH Muniyappa’s Daughter Roopa Sashidhar has been denied ticket and same has be given to Shankar V.

Interestingly two names from the first list have been changed.From Badami – BB Chimmanakatti have replaced Devaraj whereas Pamaya Murari has been replaced by Durgappa Sangappa for Linga Siddur Constituency.

Upset over allocation of ticket to AS Ravindra from Srirangapattana, Famous Sandalwood Actor Turned Politician Ambareesh has announced of withdrawal of his name who was to contest from Mandya. LD Ravi from Melkote also announced of withdrawal of his name following Ambareesh’s denial from contesting election.
