Udupi; Jan 12: A death of a woman reported on Jan 11, Saturday evening around 4.00 pm as a result of accident, which occurred on Kinnimulky Balaipade concrete road, due to newly built humps on the road.
The deceased has been identified as Chandrakala (44), a resident of Katpady Mattu.
According to the sources,Chandrakala was sitting behind on pillion of his son Santan’s bike, were coming towards Udupi.As Santan was at high speed, without noticing the humps, built in Kinnimulky-Balaipade interior road,Chandrakala was thrown out of bike and fell on the road.
Due to the impact of the accident, she sustained serious injuries on her head. She was admitted in Udupi private hospital but as she failed to respond to the treatment, breathed her last.
A case in this regards was registered in Udupi city’s traffic police station.
In the wake of NH 66 construction work, most of the buses from Udupi to Katpady routes are depending on this road. As a result of this, traffic on this road, movements of the public and pedestrians without foot paths have to face lots of problems.
Accordingly, on public pressure, PWD department has built humps in three places on Jan 10 in the night.Besides; traffic was also prohibited temporarily on this road. Still most of the vehicles were moving on this road. After this accident happened, public from Udyavar region and vehicle drivers got angry and protested against this humps and demanded for the removal of these humps. At last people from the PWD department removed all these humps through JCB
