Floutng election code of conduct shall initiate action under IPC 188; DC warns officials on poll duty

Mangalore, April 13: Addressing a meeting of sector magistrates and returning officer at the city’s MCC Mangala Auditorium on April12, Friday Harsh Gupta, DC said that sector magistrates will be in-charge of flying squad in the district and action under IPC 188 can be initiated against any violators of election code of conduct.

He also directed all the officials deployed on poll duty must ensure that no untoward incidences take place and the entire officers on duty work in full co-operation with each other

Prior permissions must be sought in case of political  parties want to engage vehicles, erecting pandals/shamiyana,placing an orders for food, and strictly no rallies are permitted, he emphasized and instructed poll officials to ensure that there was no gaps during the flow of communication from one end to another.

Mangalore police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar, who also spoke, directed officials on duty at static check posts to keep a special vigil and to videograph any event which they believe that it is suspicious.

He also said that there should be full scale co-operation between returning officers, sector magistrates and police inspectors to prevent any kind of violation in poll code of conduct.
