Karkala: Karkala taluk panchayat KDP meet; by Feb 15, tendering process to be completed-legislator

Karkala;Dec 19: Addressing the trimonthly KDP meet, held in Karkala taluk Panchayat auditorium ,legislator V.Sunil Kumar said in his presidential  address that  road and other developmental works related tender process should be completed by Feb 15.After that there might a possibility of implementing election code of conduct. Therefore keeping all these things in mind, all the concerned authorities have been advised to keep themselves actively engaged in their respective departmental works.

Besides he said that KDP meeting is not held just for name sake instead discussion on complete developmental works in the district and review is being taking place. But with regards to village level authorities remained absent in the meeting, if the trend is continued like this, disciplinary action will be taken against erring officials, he cautioned

 Because of slow phase of city’s developmental works in the city, vehicles and general public have to undergo lot of problems in their movements. Therefore municipality chief authorities have been suggested to put more pressure on contractors for accelerating the works.

Already road works in the surrounding areas of the city has been started but since owners of the land are not ready to give 7 feet of land for the widening of road starting from Ananthashayana temple to Saalmara, shifting of electric poles from the side of the road has become impossible and thus applying of tar on main roads got delayed, informed chief executive official in the meet.

 Announce the compensation amount openly in advance for the people who are willing to give the land, then they will come forward themselves, suggested legislator Sunil Kumar.

He further said that traffic on Bhavani Mill junction has been reduced considerably for the last one year. One week has already been passed after I informed municipal engineers to remove gravel from the road. When the talk of the legislator is not being given an appropriate response and being ignored, what value engineers may give to the common public?-legislator expressed his displeasure.

Smt.Anasuya, social welfare departmental authority has discussed about the shortage of cooks and wardens in Sc/ST accommodations.

 Medical officer Dr.Krishnananda Shetty informed in the meeting that 15 health sub centres in the taluk do not have its own building and accommodation. In government hospitals only 70% of medicines are being supplied. Here cases of rat fever and malaria have been come down.78 cases of children suffering due to unhealthy food have been detected.

In reply to this, taluk’s government hospital’s chief medical officer said in his address that out of Rs 18 lac, medicines worth Rs 13 lac have been already provided and arrangement has been made to bring medicine worth Rs 5 lac from Aarogya raksha samiti. He also added that it has also been planned to build three- storey building by demolishing the existing old building.

Tahsildar Babu Devadiga informed in the meeting that with regard to areca nut rotten disease compensation, a total of 2977 applications have been received by the department seeking compensation and 2480 applicants have already been given compensation. Compensation for the remaining applicants will be given very shortly, he said.

Legislator informed that by identifying more than 50 cents of government lands for the distribution of constructing houses, village accountant and PDO of panchayat should conduct a joint survey and submit a list by the end of January 2014.

Water department is implementing projects without taking into account the elected representatives and local administration. No clue about the progress of the project. When department authorities came forward to give vague and inadequate answer, legislator express his dissatisfaction and instructed that etiquette, transparency should be maintained. Supporting the point raised by legislator district panchayat standing committee president Udaya Kumar Kotian said in his address that by providing the list of the local level projects to the local administration, this new controversies can be stopped, he said.

In the taluk limit there are more than 10 illegal liquor selling points are actively conducting their business. Before taking any action against this illegal trading of liquor, informations are being leaked out. Therefore could not succeed in applying bridle to this trade so far.Bola, Hebri, Borkatte are the main illegal trading pcentres. Immediately appropriate action will be taken against this illegal activities, replied excise department official to the question of legislator.

With regard to the news appeared in the news papers about the poor quality of Andar-Kaduhole road and subsequent patch works on newly constructed concrete road before the inauguration, Sunil Kumar said that if the condition of last longing concrete road is like this, what about the fate of tar road?

For this poor quality of construction of roads, which was constructed at the cost of Rs 1, 49, 000, panchayatraj engineers are held responsible for their gross negligency.When citizens protested for the poor quality of works and memorandum was to be submitted, the department officials without visiting the place, shown their lethargy and finally tahsildar had to visit the place and accept the memorandum. This shows the efficiency of the department, legislator regretted.

As Mahamasthaabhisheka will be held in the next year, in Karkala, legislator has directed the municipality officials to call an emergency meeting to discuss and prepare list about the developmental works to be done during the occasion and to discuss about the grant-in-aid from the government.
