Udupi; Dec 19: Under the leadership of ABVP, various P.U degree colleges in the city staged a protest on Dec 18, Wednesday in front of the clock tower, near Udupi service bus stand against the implementation of 2006 CET act
In this act, there is no government quota for any one of the private unaided colleges in the state. In order to get seat in private colleges, students have to mandatorily write an examination conducted by Comed-K.
ABVP alleged in its memorandum that government’s CET examination is only applicable to government and aided 21 engineering and 10 medical colleges.
In CET, even for first rank holder student seats may become inevitable and thereby he may have to spend in lacs for the seat. This policy is against the interest and academic career of the students, they alleged.
Earlier to this, hundreds of students of Udupi Poorna Prajna and MGM College have organized rally.
In the protest ABVP udupi city’s Secretary Abhishek Rao, Prashanth, city organization secretary, Shashira, district convener, Avinash, Shreenivas and among others were present.
