Mangalore, Dec. 14: “Mohanabhivandam,’ a felicitation ceremony to Shantala Natya awardee Dance Guru Ullal Mohan Kumar organised by internationally acclaimed 39 dance teachers who received training under him was held on December 13 Friday at Town Hall.
After receiving the felicitation Mohan Kumar said that the dance teachers should follow the basic theory of frames of Bharathanatya and should showcase the talent.
Chief guest U.T. Khadar, health minister of state said that Ullal Mohan Kumar is a great teacher who learned the art of Bharathanatya and taught it to the large number of students he added.
The programme also marks the 80 birthday of Mohan Kumar. The students of Mohan Kumar who are now based in different parts of the country participated in the programme. The main intention of the programme to safeguard ‘Guru-Shishya,’ tradition.”
“Dr.B.M.Hegde will preside over the function. Captain Ganesh Karnik, MLC, senior dance teacher of Kalakshitiya Bangalore Pro. M. R. Krishna Murthy, Kanada Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaruru, Ullal Premnath, Muralidhar Rao, Kudradi Vishwanath Rai, Sabitha mohan were present at the occasion.
Senior Yakshagana artist Kumble Sundar Rao did the felicitation speech. Chandrashekara Shetty of Sanathana Natyalaya welcomed. Kottara Bharatanjali Shridhara Holla proposed vote of Thanks. Ravindranath Shetty compered the programme.
