Mangalore, Dec.8: Rxlife is a lifestyle modification centre based in Mannagudda Mangalore. It has been organizing mass Cycle Rally in December, every year since 2007. The Seventh annual Cycle Rally held on 8th December. The Rally flagged off from Lady Hill Circle at 6.30 A.M.
The Rally covered a distance of 18 Kms, passing through Kottara – Kuloor – TannirBavi- Kuloor – Kottara- Malemar- Derebail and concluded at Bharath Mall.
This is more than 1800 people participated in the rally and more than 200 unregistered candidates also take part in the rally.
Speaking on the occasion the convener of Rxlife Dr. Gayatri Bhat said that the main reason why this event gets increasing patronage is that it provides an opportunity for children to improve their riding skills and reflexes on road. For the grown-ups it is a nostalgic ride down the memory lane. Over the years, one can find many families enjoying the ride together. The theme for the year has been ‘Pedal for Fitness’.
In short, the purpose of the rally is popularizing cycling as a fitness and short distance commuting mode, increasing awareness about need for sane and safe riding habit and develop interest in outdoor activity amongst children. The Organizers believe in the philosophy of cycling i.e. transformation from ‘Me Me Me to We We We’, from self- cantered life style to socially responsive co-habitat, through such mass pedalling experience she added.
Every Cycle is given an Identity numbered sticker and every rider an identity card. Five lucky riders take home a cycle each sponsored by BSA Hercules and Jyothi Cycle Co. Many more prizes distributed. Breakfast served at the finishing venue at Bharat Mall.
Arrangement for the Rally includes water points, orange points, Juice and dry fruit point, Ambulance and first aid team from KSHEMA, Cycle Rescue vans and Pilot Jeep.
The Rally is sponsored by BSA Hercules, Ideal Ice Cream, Shriram Group, Corporation Bank, Karnataka Bank Ltd., Radio Mirchi and Jyoti Cycle Co.
Volunteers from Youth Hostels Association of India, Team Mangalore, SICASA – CA Students Association Mangalore joined hands in organizing this Rally.
