Mangalore, Nov. 30: The members of Forum in front of the DC office on Friday 29 November staged protest against Atrocities on Women and they also urged the government to take action on MLA Jeevaraj who is accused of sexually assaulting a young lady.
Addressing the protest Merlyn Martis said, “In recent times the violence against the women is increasing. In only those cases in which no influential people have been involved, the justice has been served to the victim.”
“In the MLA Jeevaraj Case since the accused is a MLA and a very influential person of that region, the investigation has to be done with the supervision of the High Court. And the case has to be transferred to the Fast track court from the local session’s court and the speaker of the legislative counsel has to take the required action against the tainted legislator”, she added.
She also urged the government provide required protection for the family of the victim.
It was state wide protest with regards to Justice for Women. A protest has also been staged in Bangalore, Belgaum and other districts in this regard.
