Kundapur; Nov 29: In an incident, wherein a girl aged 15, identified as Shobha, a resident of Netaji Nagar Moodugiliyaru, near Kota, daughter of Shiva Shriyan and Smt Baby, a student of 9th standard in Kota Viveka girl’s high school has committed suicide by her tying herself to the roof of the house on Nov 29, Friday.
According to the sources the reason behind for this extreme step by the girl was the refusal by her mother to give Rs 200 to her, when she asked for it.
For not giving Rs 200, suicide..!!
Amidst their poverty, in the intention of giving good education to their two children, Shobha’s father Shiva Shriyan was doing his fishing trade in Kerala and mother Baby was working as cooly for their survival.
It was told that being stubborn in nature, Shobha was troubling her mother to give Rs 200 since Thursday. Besides in the same matter in angry, she asked money even on Friday morning. Then her mother convinced her daughter that now I don’t have money, I will give you in the evening and in the evening your father will also come to native place and then I will ask him to give you money. After convincing Shobha, Baby left for her duty. Not satisfied with mother’s advice, Shobha was in indifferent and pensive mood.
According to Shobha’s brother Karthik, at 08.30 am in the morning she was ready with her uniform to go to school and watching the T.V. After he left, she closed the door of the room from inside and committed suicide, it is said.
Her mother Baby, who has gone for work in the morning, came back at around 10.30 am due to some problem at the work place. When she understood that door was locked inside, she started doubting and screamed for neighbours.The matter was came to light when the neighbours,relatives arrived and entered inside the room from the top of the house after removing tiles.
Brahmavar circle inspector Arun Nayak and Kota police arrived to the spot of the incident and examined the situation.
Kota gram panchayat president Shiva Poojary,secretary Manju,developmet officer Subhash,gram panchayat member Rajarama shetty,former taluk panchayat member Thimma Poojary,Kota high school principal Nagesh Shanbaugh and among others paid a visit to the spot and consoled the parents of the girl.
