Bijur: Attempted murder case; court announces verdict sentencing four accused

Kundapur; Nov 27: Kundapur additional district and session court has announced its verdict on Nov 25, Monday and sentenced four people in connection with attempted murder case in Balehaklu in Bijoor village.

The accused have been identified as Ganesh Devadiga (31), Udaya Devadiga (38) Saritha Heriya Devadiga (38) and Muthu Hengsu (38) residents of Bijoor village of Kundapur taluk. There was a controversy between these accused and Sudhakar,Nagoo,Sooru,Chandra Devadiga,Kuppu,Abbakka,Parvati and Laxmi  in connection with 3.60 acres of government land in Haklumane of Byndoor police limit.In this enmity, accused had hatched a conspiracy to murder Sudhakar and his groups on Feb,27,2009 at 10.00 am in the morning at Balehaklu in Bijoor village.

The accused had abused Sudhakar’s group with foul languages and thereafter they attacked Ganesh Devadiga, Nagoo along with Udaya Devadiga and Sooru with sword, then they beat Chandra Devadiga, they hit Savita and Muthu with wooden cudgel and assaulted Abbakka.

A case was registered in this regard in Byndoor police station.

After studying witnesses, hearing discussion and controversies, conspiracy to murder by accused and after examining the witnesses of the injured, Kundapur additional district court and session court has confirmed the murder attempt by the accused and accordingly Justice S.G.Revanakar announced the judgement under Indian penal code column 324, sentence of one year and six months jail term and under column 307 six years jail sentence and fine of Rs 6500 for each accused.

An accused Udaya Devadiga, an employee of railway has produced some evidences to claim that he was not the part of murder but court after rejecting his irrelevant evidences, he has also been imprisoned. After the announcement of the verdict, the four accused who were on bail have been taken under judicial custody by the court. On behalf of prosecution, Udupi public prosecutor T.S.Jithoori has elucidated. In this murder case,Byndoor’s then assistant police inspector Yogeesh Kumar B.C has produced the list of arraignments to the court.
