An Engineer Student was caught in the undercurrent, Met with watery grave.

Mangalore, April 8: It has been reported that Akash K R, aged 17,a student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya,Chikmagalur was caught in the under current and met with watery grave on Sunday April 7.He is said to be the only son of Ramesh Naik and  a resident of Kadur..

It is said that a group of students from the said school have arrived in the city to appear for All India Engineering Entrance Examination.

Sources said that being a Sunday, the students have gone to Panambur beach and were busy having fun and frolic in the sea water. But in the melee other students failed to notice that Akash is being getting caught in the undercurrent.

Although lifeguards came to the rescue, it was too late and he was in a serious condition and rushed him to NMPT hospital with froth in his mouth but unfortunately doctor on duty declared him brought dead.

The incident was reported at 4.00 P.M within minutes of the group of students ventured in to sea.

It is added that although lifeguards saved about 74 people from the jaws of death during the last four years, in Akash’s case they could not save him, they regretted.

It has been reported that Akash happens to be the first victim in four years at Panambur beach.In 2009 three tourists drowned, it added.

According to Yathig Bykampady fatalities have been averted drastically after lifeguards were being deployed.

It has also been told that Akash had got an admission in Bosco Coaching in the city to prepare for engineering entrance examination.
