Udupi; Nov 17: The criminals, who were accused in robbing case of Mangalore based doctor have been arrested and are now under police custody.
According to the sources, it was on 09.11.2013, Mangalore based Dr.Anil Kumar came to Udupi to attend Karnataka state government doctors conference in Udupi Ammanni Ramanna Shetty auditorium. After the conference, when doctor was waiting for taxi, the accused approached him and took him to Ajjarekadu maidan in the pretext of getting him a taxi to go to Mangalore. There, they caught hold of him tightly, threatened him and robbed him of his gold finger ring, gold chain, cash and ATM and other items.A case was registered in Udupi city police station in this regard.
In this connection Udupi city police have arrested Ashwath Kumar, aged 22,son of Jagadish Rao,resident of Kodial Guttu,Near R.K.car Mechanic,’Vishwachaaya’,Mangalore taluk,currently staying in Udupi and Umesh Kumar, aged 20,son of Chandra Kulal,resident of Sree Krishna Nilaya,Haikady Hiliyana village, Kundapur and recovered cash of Rs 39,000,gold chain worth Rs 15,000,motor bike worth Rs 30,000 used for the crime from the accused and produced in court and now they are under judicial custody.
The team led by police commissioner Dr.Boralingayya,IPS comprising of Santhosh Kumar, additional police commissioner and assistant commissioner Dr.Prabhudeva Mane, investigation officer ,Maruti,G.Nayak circle inspector, staff Thomson, Krishna Prasad,Sudhir and Mahabaleshwara were present in the operation.
