Manipal; Nov 10: Addressing the Manipal university’s 17th “Ghatikotsava”,(Convocation)held on Nov 09,Saturday in KMC’s Greens, chief guest of honour Dr Emunel G.Kassimatis,President and managing director of American educational commission of Philadelphia’s for foreign medical graduates said in his address that today graduates who are coming out of colleges, got ample opportunities but have to be always ready to face stiff competition, he said.
He further said that for the new employment opportunities, sometimes you may have to be away from your grown up culture, family and friends and may have to adapt to new atmosphere. Under the circumstances, it is very difficult to come to the conclusion after minute consideration, that will decide your path of your further step, he added
During the Ghatikotsava, 2288 people degree, 2047 masters’ degree, 6 people super specialty.30 people PhD degree and four people fellowship PhD degree, a total of 4375 students received their degrees.
While ten students of degree division received Dr.TMA Pai gold medal, four students received gold medal in post graduation division, one student in super specialty division received the medals.
Dr.Ramadas M Pai, vice chancellor of Manipal University declared open the convocation ceremony.
Chancellor Dr.K.Ramanarayan, Prof.vice chancellor Dr.V.Surendra Shetty.Dr P.L.N.Rao, Dr.Indira Bayar, student’s liaison director were present.
Vice chancellor Dr H.Vinod Bhat advised the oath of office, Dr.H.S.Ballal welcomed the guests, registrar Dr.G.K.Prabhu proposed vote of thanks,Dr Suma Nair compered the programme.
