Mangalore, Nov 7: Urging to fulfill their demands the district unit of the Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha (KPRS) organized a day long Dharna Satyagraha in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office on November 7, Thursday.
K R Shriyan, president of KPRS said that the protest has been staged to compel the government to fulfil long-pending demands of the farmers.
The government must issue the title deed to the farmers, who gave the applications year ago. The agitators also demanded that support price for agricultural produce be fixed as per the recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee.
Some of the problems raised are issuing of farmers’ housing scheme and the opening of grain purchase centres prior to harvesting season.
Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha general secretary K Yadav Shetty and others were present.
