Poojary Distributes Compensation Money to Families of Drowning Victims

 Mangalore, Nov. 4: The former union minister B. Janardhan Poojary visited the houses of young boys namely Yakshith, Rakshith, Kalander, Rajesh and Prajwal, who died by drowning in the river at Dumbell and also the house of Sohan, a student who died after drowning in the swimming pool in Urva and gave away a total of Rs 3.30lac (Rs 55,000 per family) to the families as compensation, on Sunday, November 3.

Speaking to reporters he said, “Karnataka government has already given a sum of Rs 1.50lac to the families of the victims. Since the families are poor, the compensation money should be raised to Rs 2.5lac.”

Speaking about Sowjanya case, he said, “Sowjanya and her family should get justice. I have asked the chief minister to hand over the case to CBI. However it is incorrect to defame Sri Dharnasthala Kshetra and Dr. Heggade unnecessarily.”

J.R. Lobo, Moideen Bava, MLA’s, Vijay Kumar Shetty, former MLA, Harikrishna Bantwal, Shashidhar Hegde, Mohammad Badruddin, Radhakrishna and Keshav Sanil and other leaders were present among others.
