Mangalore, Nov 4: As part of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations, a state-wide grand ratha yatra is being organised in Karnataka. The ratha yatra has arrived in Dakshina Kannada district on Friday, and is set to reach Mangalore on Tuesday, said Swami Chitakamananda, honorary president of Swami Vivekananda Ratha Yatra Swagatha Samiti, Dakshina Kannada.
In the press conference at city on Sunday Nov. 3, he said that the ratha yatra will come to Mangalore through Ujire and Bantwal on Tuesday. The ratha yatra will be flagged off in front of Mangalore City Corporation, Lalbagh at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday, and then student rally will be held.
The ratha yatra will move towards Ramakrishna Mutt, Mangaladevi via PVS Circle, Jyothi Circle, Kankanday and Marnamikatte. A formal programme will be held at Ramakrishna Mutt he added.
He further said that a public procession will be held at Nehru Maidan at 4.30 p.m. which will move towards Ramakrishna Mutt via Pandeshwar.
Speaking on the occasion, Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo said that the ratha yatra would proceed towards Thokkottu at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday. The yatra will reach Vittal via Konaje and Kalladka thereafter. The yatra will proceed towards Puttur on Thursday, and arrive at Hassan district via Sullia taluk on Friday, he said.
President of the Samiti P V Mohan, convenor Rohan Monteiro, co-convenor Mohammed Badruddin and other members were present.
