Gram panchayath president of Kandavara escapes from acid attack: Accused arrested

 Mangalore, Oct 18: A youth was arrested by police on Thursday Oct. 17, for allegedly threatening to throw acid on a female president of Kandavara Gram Panchayat in Mangalore taluk.

The incident took place at premises of gram panchayath. The accused tried to throw acid on Vijaya Gopal Suvarna, president of Kandavara Gram Panchayat

The arrested has been identified as Subrahmanya (21), a native of Mudigere, in Chikmagalur district. He used to work at construction sites near Bajpe.

According to police sources, the accused had been harassing Vijaya Gopal Suvarna, over phone for several months.

Vijaya claimed that the accused had demanded Rs 2 lakh from Vijaya and threatened her that if dint give the money he will throw acid on her otherwise kill the memberof her home. And also he use to talk in bad languages.

This time Vijaya complained at Bajpe police about the threat and sought their help. According to her complaint police tried to catch him by laying a trap. Vijaya invited the accused to Gram Panchayat office to collect money on Thursday. When he reached the office, police managed to arrest him. A bottle of acid also was seized from him.

While investigating him they police found many unknown numbers of woman’s of the city and porn photograps in his cell phone.

A case has been registered at Bajpe police station.
