Mangalore, Oct. 17: Mangalore City Corporation takes down the illegal hoardings/banners in the city on Thursday 17, 2013 as it earlier announced.
All the illegal hoardings/banners, Dasara special hoardings, buntings which was put in the road sides had been removed with the initiation of assistant revenue officer Praveen.
Mr. K. Praveen said that the hoardings destruct to motorists and barrier to people who uses footpaths. Many of these hoardings are hung without the permission or knowledge of the Corporation. They have been displayed in public places without payment of advertisement tax.
If you looked around the city couple of days ago, there were many huge hoardings of every sort a range of organisation, from residential associations to NGOs, and lately, and also hoardings about Narendra Modi and also Anti-Modi hoardings he said.
He further said we already announced to remove all the hoardings and banners before Oct 16. So we take the step. If someone is found violating the rule, MCC officials will immediately issue a notice asking them to remove the publicity material or else the MCC workers will get them down.
Opposition from the people: While removing the hoardings the officers of MCC get opposition from the people in several areas. At Urvastore while take off the big Banner of Sharada some local organizations opposed the workers. And they said that the MCC is not removing the political banner which was hanging around the city from long period. But now it was just one day has over after the Sharada Mahotsav. By removing the banner the MCC trying to insult us they said in anger.
In some other place the people do not allow the MCC people to remove the banners, the people only removed it.
