Udupi; Oct 12: Members of Brahmavar St, Mary’s Syrian church have staged a protest condemning the sudden transfer of priest vicar general Laurence D’Souza without any valid reason on Oct 11, Friday evening at church premises. It is alleged that there were irregularities occurred in ONC School managed by the church.
Sources said that fearing the irregularities of the school will surface in the annual general meeting, which will held shortly, Fr.Laurence has been transferred in a surprise move, it said. Members of the church have demanded in the protest to reinstate Fr.Laurence D’souza immediately.
They further said that Fr.Laurence D’Souza was responsible for many developmental works through his ONC educational society.
The members have alleged that Secretary of the ONC educational society has approved the accounts by himself without the consent of the president and opened several bank accounts in various banks illegally. These arrogant attitudes of the secretary were being questioned by Fr.Laurence D’Souza, they said.
Rohan Vaz, Alwyn Lobo, president youth wing, Thomas D’souza and among others were present.
