Review Meeting of Six Departments on Thursday: Shakunthala Shetty

Mangalore, Oct 9: MLA and Women and Child Welfare Committee President Shakunthala Shetty said that no complaint has been registered with the Committee with regard to the Saujanya rape and murder case, which shook the region about one year ago.

Shakunthala Shetty addressed the gathering on Wednesday at Ocean Pearl, regard to the review meeting of six departments to be held on Thursday, she responded to the query with regard to the Saujanya murder case.

The Committee will be reviewing six departments in Mangalore for the first time and the departments concerned will be questioned with regard to the same during the review meeting to be held at ZP office on Thursday, she said. The Committee will review various aspects pertaining to welfare and protection of women, children, persons with special needs and senior citizens she added.

She further said that the Committee, moving first time outside Bangalore, held one such review meetings at Belgaum and it received good response. Encouraged by the response there are plans to convene such meetings in other parts of the state. Mangalore will be the second place to convene the meeting.

Capt. Ganesh Karnik said that on Thursday, Home and Excise, Women and Child Welfare, Revenue, Health, Education and Labour departments from Udupi, DK, Chikmagalur, Hasan will be reviewed. The people can give complaints of  problems.
