Bantwal,Oct5: The Assistant Director of the Department of Horticulture Sanjeeva Naik, has informed that a total compensation of Rs 50 lakhs released for the areca growers affected by fruit rot disease in the taluk, will be distributed to the beneficiaries by next Tuesday.
Naik gave this information at the taluk monthly progress review meeting held at the SGSRY Auditorium at BC Road on October 5, Saturday.
He said additional compensation would be secured from the government if the sanctioned amount was insuffice.
On this occasion, the TP Chief Lalitha Naik took the Veterinary officer of the Animal Husbandry Department to task for not providing clear cut information regarding the diseased affecting the cattle. She also instructed the department to initiate vaccination programme for the affected cattle.
The TP Standing Committee President Sampath Kumar Shetty , Anand Shambhur, TP Vice President, TP Executive officer Vishwanath Poojari and others were present.
