Kundapur; Sept 30: Under the auspices of laborer’s Sangha, accommodation and homeless people launched an indefinite day-night protest in front of taluk office demanding an immediate measure for the sanctioning of lands.
Sources said that homeless people have already submitted a memorandum for the sanctioning of land but though it is in the final stages of approval, it is still lying in the office without taking any action on it.
Protestors urged the tahsildar to convene a meeting for the discussion with us involving village accountants, taluk panchayat directors, panchayat development administrators and Kundapur municipal council’s chief administrators.
Addressing the media reporters, Smt Gayathri Nayak, Kundapur tahsildar said in her address that responding to the demands of protestors, we have already ordered to hold a meeting prior to this protest and accordingly a meeting will be convened on October, 1, Tuesday and all the gram panchayat officials have been instructed to conduct a survey and prepare the list of the benefactors. Since it is a lengthy process, it will take time, she said. The demands of the protestors will be discussed in Tuesday’s meeting, she added.
Nityananda Swami, state president of Karnataka’s agricultural laborers Sangha has launched the protest.
District president Dogu Suvarna, Taluk samiti president Rajeev Padukone, Chief secretary Venkatesh Koni, treasurer Nagaratna Nada, labor leaders H.Narasimha, K.Shankara,Suresha Kallagara,Kariya Devadiga and among others were present.
