Udupi; Sept 28: Under the auspices of canara bus owner’s association, Canara combined transport, through CCT, in Kundapur, Udupi, Mangalore route, used to give 25% to 35% discount to daily commuters for the last three years.
Sangha has been giving pre-paid card facility through R.F.I.D card since one year. The association has decided to extend this facility effective from October 1st, 2013 in Kundapur-Bhatkala, Kundapur-Kandlur-Siddapur, Kundapur-Kollur, Udupi-Barkur-Siddapur and Karkala-Mangalore for the benefits of daily commuters. Currently more than 6,500 passengers are availing this facility.
Rules and regulations for pre-paid R.F.I.D card:–
1. Application fee : Rs 100
2. Validity period of R.F.I.D.Card : 2 Years from the date of issue
3. How many times card can be used : Any 2 times of the day
4. Number of coupons issued at time : 30 coupons for 15 days. Re-charge facility available for more than 15 days but validity period of the card will be only 30 days.
5. Facility to know the remaining balance in the account after every transaction on the R.F.I.D card
6. Currently this facility is available in 250 buses
R.F.I.D payment centres:-Udupi, Kundapur, Mangalore and Karkala
After receiving aids from state government under NARMS project, Volvo buses are rendering service to the public.
Canara bus owner’s Sangha has informed that it had already brought the matter to the attention of central government to extend this facility to private buses also.
