Mangalore, Sep 27: The ‘Khadga diksha’ programme would take place on October 25 in Mangalore as scheduled said national organising secretary of Akhila Bharat Hindu Mahasabha Santhosh Roy.

Speaking at a press conference, he said that the khadga diksha was a cultural and religious tradition which was being followed from several years. It is not a crime he said.

He further said that, the members of the Hindusabha were ready to go to jail if they faced legal opposition in this regard. In view of increasing number of cattle thefts, it was necessary to undertake such a programme in the district. This will not produce any communal tension in the region.

Criticising the Unions and other organisations which opposed the khadga diksha in D.K, such organisations only raised their voices when right-wing groups undertook pro-Hindutva programmes and not otherwise.

There should be equality among all religions in matters of law, he stressed, urging that the government should investigate the background of organisations such as PUCL, PFI and others.

ABHM state president Ravi Magar and district president Rajesh Poojary were present.
