Udupi: Bus owner receives life threatening call for extortion from underworld Ravi Poojary’s aid

Udupi; Sept 21: A case has been registered in Udupi town police station with regard to the life threatening call received on bus owner’s mobile asking him to pay Rs 25 lac as extortion, failing to do so, face the consequence and they threatened him that he would be killed.

Sources said that in the name of underworld Ravi Poojary and Kali Yogeesh, bus owner Bannanje Raghavendra Bhat has received call twice.

According to Bhat’s statement, on Sept 19, the man who called in the name of Ravi Poojary has demanded Rs 25 lac but I disconnected the phone by saying ‘I don’t have money’. Thereafter Bhat has received one more call in the name of Kali Yogeesh demanding Rs 25 lac, that time also I told him that I don’t have money.

Again on Sept 20, at around 2.30 pm, a man called Bhat from the landline and threatened him that make the settlement or else I will enter your house and murder you. I know everything about you.

The police after confirming the fact that the call which came on Sept 20, was from Karkala coin box, they rushed to the spot from where the call had been made and conducted an inquiry. The police got the clue that one unknown person came and made the call from the coin box.
