Karkala; Sept 21: Addressing the audience in the taluk panchayat ordinary meeting held on Sept 20, Friday at taluk panchayt auditorium, Vikramarjuna Hegde, taluk panchayat member has taken the PDO’s and other officials to task for not visiting the houses of ration card applicants for survey even after the completion of photo session at gram panchayat few months back and demanded an immediate action against errant, non-co-operative and lethargic officials.
Besides, he also said that officials who are holding the designation as panchayat development authorities are taking anti-people attitudes and since there is enough staff in the office, they have to undertake ration card survey job and in this regard he demanded an urgent measures from the concerned authority.
He also insisted for the compulsory presence of all the taluk level authorities in the taluk panchayat ordinary meetings. Sujith Kumar asked the question that what action has been taken against those who were absent?. He even lambasted at PWD officials for their inaction against the construction of new towers at the corners of the roads by Karkala Mundli water thermal power plant and alleged that they are under slumber.
Bola Jayarama Salian and Xavier D’Mello, while speaking, raised the subject about the pathetic condition of Padubidri-Karkala road and said that works pertaining to this stretch is under threat, no concrete proper answer, explanation is being given by the elected representatives in this regard.With regard to land acquisition for road widening work, there will be a wide disparity between rich and poor.
Responding to this allegation Satyanarayana, Keship, asst Manager said in his answer that it was decided in last March, 2012 and deadline date was given to complete the works in eighteen months time but due to the delay in shifting of electric poles to other locations, the works which were supposed to complete by the end of this month, has been again delayed by one year because of the request in writing made to Keship department by RNS institution for one year extension.
Continuing his speech, he said that though grant-in-aid by the government has been released during monsoon for the repair of potholes on Karkala-Udupi highway, repair work is not being done properly and in this regard an emergency measures has to be taken, he informed to the authorities in the meeting.
He also added that now some unused old government buildings are being utilized by some private parties. In this regard he urged the respective gram panchayat authorities to take it those buildings under their control.
Due to double standard attitude of mines and forest department authorities, now illegal mining activities has been strengthened, dominated in the region. In this regard, he urged mining and forest department authorities to hold joint meeting to identify the crusher zone and there only crushers should be allowed, he opined.
Xavier D’Mello has asked the question that what action has been taken against the government hospitals, which has not paid salary of ‘D’ grade employees for the last three months?
Sujith Kumar, while speaking said that last year in Shirlal from horticultural department pepper plants have been distributed under Guccha Grama project but horticulture authority Vishwanatha has collected money in lac from the farmers against the plants distributed. Responding to this allegation, Vishwanatha said in his answer that since no protest has been expressed by the farmers, the money has been sent back and no illegal transaction has been taken place in this regard, he clarified.
