Kundapur: Police raids a gambling den & arrest 8 gamblers along with Rs 29K in cash

Kundapur; Sept 12: Kundapur police under the leadership of police asst.commissioner Jayaram D have raided a gambling den and arrested eight people (gamblers) who were playing cards “Andhar Bahar”by keeping money as guarantee on September 11, Wednesday at Beejadi Muddera voni and recovered rupees twenty nine thousand from them.

The arrested people have been identified as Dinesh,aged 38,a resident of Kantheshwari road in Gopady village,Vasudeva,aged 43,resident of near Koteshwara Kamalamma Kalyana Mantapa,Moodugopady resident Ashir,aged 33,Rama,aged 53,resident of Moodugopady road,Kumbhashi village,Mutha,aged 50,resident of Kalkeri house,Beejady village,Krishnamurthy,aged 33,resident of Hosamane,Beejadi village,Ramesha,aged 34,resident of Beejadi grama,Pathri Badiyana Mane,Raghu,aged 33.resident of Makkimane,Arasarabettu,Beejadi grama,Padmanabha,aged 35,resident of Ganesh Bhavan,Halady road.

The number of instances of gambling, Matka has increased substantially across the district and police must take some stringent steps to prevent this menace and apply break on all these illegal activities.

Police have recovered cash of rupees twenty nine thousand, playing cards and one old paper from the arrested after enquiry.A case has been registered in this regard.
