Kundapur;Sept 10 : After the inauguration of ‘world suicide prevention day symposium’ organized jointly by Shree Matha Hospital Kundapur and lion’s and lioness club Brahmavar-Barkur ,Yashodha S Ontigodi,DYSP,Kundapur said in her speech that when we face the problems in our life, committing suicide is not the solution. Problems are part and parcel of life and any difficult situations can be solved. Yoga and meditation will help in this regard to keep our mind in equilibrium state, she said.
She said further that it is highly deplorable to see now a day’s that even for silly reasons, people are resorting to commit suicide. In order to discourage the students from the bad practice of committing suicide, organizing programmes like this will help in great extent.
Now, it is the need of the hour to educate and create awareness amongst student’s community by organizing programmes like this in schools and colleges and make them understand about the bad practice of committing suicide when we face problems in our life, she added.
Dr K S Latha,Psychologist said in her address as a human resources person that in developing countries suicide cases amongst youths of 16-24 years including adults are plaguing like cancer. Around one lac people in the country are trying to commit suicide. Solving this disease of suicide and not giving any room for such incidents should be the aim of every citizen. Before committing suicide one should know, why suicide should be committed and how it can be prevented?.
She has also comprehensively informed about how to help the people, who are trying to commit suicide, symptoms of precautions, reasons and role of the citizen in the case of prevention of suicides.
Dr Prakash Tholar, well known and famous physiologist, has presided over the programme.
