Mangalore, September 5: The birthday anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and teachers’ day has been organised in association with Dakshgina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, Public education department and teachers day celebration committee at Town hall on Thursday.
Legislative Council member K.Monappa Bhandary inaugurated the programme and said that due to importance and contribution of Radhakrishnan to educational field, the teachers’ day has been celebrating in his name and it has completed several year. In the life mainly three persons are influence a person, they are mother, father and teacher. These three people are helps to make a child as a good citizen, he said.
A teacher forms future of a child and in the primary education centre; he or she teaches the general knowledge and keeps a pillar of better knowledge. After providing complete education, they leave them to make their own life. Hence, teachers are called as sculptor of the society, he opined.
‘There is need of good education to preserve the culture of the nation and regarding the education in mother tongue, concerned officials must think’, he said.
MLA J.R Lobo presided over the function and on the occasion he felicitated the 65 retired teachers during 2012-13 of Mangalore north zone government and subsidized primary- high school.
Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Vice president Rithesh Shetty, members Asha Suvarna, M. Balakrishna Shetty, Principal and joint director Philomena Lobo, MCC commissioner Shaanadi Ajith Kumar Hegde and others were present.
