B.C Road: A child labour taken to custody

B.C Road, September 2: The police raided a house at Ajjibettu, B.C Road, in a joint operation with CWC, labour department & educational officer;  saved a child labour  who was working in a house of traffic police constable Heeroo Nayak and Jyothi couple.

The rescued child is identified as Anusha (9), daughter of Umesh Nayak and Suma couple, hails from Ballari, Kogali.

The labour department officials put a case against the couple under anti child labour act. After getting the proper information as the minor girl used for the home work and this matter highlighted during the operation.

‘The couple says the child is studying in 4th standard, but that is not proved. The girl knows little Kannada to write and she don’t know to speak properly’, said Bantwal constituency Education officer Sheshashayana Kaarinja.

The government employee couple said that they heir girl to take care their child, but sources said that she was used for other heavy work also and during the operation there were only a girl and a child in the house. After taking the Anusha to custody, officials presented her in front of the Child Welfare Committee president Asha Nayak. The girl child sent to medical test to know the age and it came to known as the girl is 9 year old. Regarding the girl’s age, no other document is found, said Educational officer.
