Kaup: Minister Rai lays foundation stone for staff quarter for forest department employees

Kaup; August17: Addressing the media reporters after the foundation stone laying ceremony, Ramanatha Rai, minister for forest, ecology and environment and district in-charge said in his address that there will not be any scope or opportunities for any kind of projects in undivided Dakshina Kannada district which are against the interest of environment protection. Without environment, people cannot survive. It is everybody’s endeavor to protect the environment, he said.

 He further said that in view of keeping the environment clean and pollution free, department has undertaken a gigantic dream project of Laksha-vriiksha revolution.

He also added that the love towards forest and environment should not be limited to only on ‘Vanamahotsava day’ and that should be continuous process. Each and every individual must cultivate the habit of growing plants and protecting it with love and care. With this kind of habits, people can keep their environment clean, which in turn helps us to lead healthy life, he said.

He again said that government has contemplating to extend this Laksha-vriksha dream project to other open places apart from some designated areas. Only by protecting environment, one can face any kind of adverse effect on our life style, prevent environment pollution and variation in climatic conditions.

Rai has inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of three staff quarters for the forest department staff, being built at the cost of Rs 30 lac.

Vinaya Kumar Sorake,minister for urban development and district in-charge,Abhayachandra Jain, minister for youth welfare and sports,A K Singh, chief forest welfare official,N Shanthappa,Chief forest welfare officer,Manjunatha Shetty,DCFP,Prakashchandra,chief sub division forest welfare officer were present in the foundation stone laying ceremony.
