3 people arrested in Child trafficking

Mangalore, Jul 27: The child helpline Institution, Mangalore has found a child trafficking mafia and arrested three persons in an undercover operation on Friday 26.

According the sources, the arrested are identified as Jossey (42), Bantwal resident, his wife Lenita (35), Bajal  and Rangavva, hailing from Badami.

Incident: The helpline team received information about child trafficking in the hosue of Kallakatte premises of Bajal and began their investigation with small hint. But Jossey’s wife Lenita had proved with documents that child is belong to her and when helpline team investigated with neighbourers, they came to know that couples are involved in the trafficking business.

Seeked the help from Anganavadi Centre: Lenita’s mother Loosi asked the Anganavadi worker Rehana that they had bought the child from women quarry worker of Pajeer and they need documents to sell the child. But fortunately Rehana informed the child line, hence they raided the house.

Prepared for investigation: Child help line wanted to catch the culprits in red hand, hence they took Rehana’s help. Under the guidance of Police Commissioner Maneesh Karbeekar and SP Abhishek Goyal, they also took cooperation of DCIB and CCB police. To bring out the truth, Rehana then acted as the mediator and told Lenita that a family from abroad was willing to buy the baby. The team sought the help of social activist Vidya Dinakar who carry out a sting operation. Dinakar contacted the Lenita over the phone and introduced herself as a Muslim woman from Mangalore staying in Dubai and she also expressed her wish to buy a baby. It is said that at first Lenita refused, but was soon convinced and decided that they would meet on Friday at Thokkottu to exchange the child for the money. On the day the deal was to be executed, the police arrived at the spot and caught the accused red-handed.

Same document for two children: The accused couple had three years old baby and she had planned to create the same document to Rangavva’s baby, which was registered in the name of her own child. It says that Rangavva’s Child brought out from the illegal relationship and she was with her during the deal.

2 lakh deals: Social activist used Hindi language for communication with Lenita and Lenita told social activist that she will show the child after 10 days and suggested her to meet at Thokkot health centre along with Rs 75 thousand. When social activist went to give the money, Lenita saw police moving around the car and tried to escape, but fortunately she caught up. The police seized Rs 90,000 in cash, a fake press card, 10 pass books and 20 credit cards from the accused.

Journalist’s ID: Lenita had argued that she is a member of Human Right Institution and she showed her duplicate reporter Id of Dehli news paper.

Ullal police have file a case and further investigations are on the process.
